Our outsole patterns and materials are also tailored for each type of riding surface, style, and course. SHIMANO off-road shoes feature high-quality rubber outsoles that offer great traction on various surfaces, better grip to pedal via pins, and even higher durability. The performance of off-road shoes is also heavily influenced by the pattern and quality of the rubber outsole material.

The Shoe and Pedal That Changed The Way We Ride
SHIMANO changed the industry by introducing a cleat system that fits in the sole of the shoe.
A key advantage of a clip-in system was that riders could now walk safely and comfortably.
The intuitive simplicity of the system allows you to just step on the pedal to lock-in and simply twist the heel to unlock.
With this innovation, new ways of riding were born. Besides its success with off-road riding, it allowed riders to dismount the bike, take breaks, and walk around more freely.

E-BIKE TOURING SHOES
Our E-BIKE Touring (ET) Shoes are the purest expression of our E-BIKE RATED design philosophy. They are specially constructed to provide a balanced and optimized bike it or hike it solution for flat pedal riders.
Regular trekking shoes may be great for hiking, but they just can’t match the pedaling performance and comfort of dedicated E-BIKE cycling shoes. On the other side of the spectrum, Road and MTB shoes deliver amazing stiffness and efficiency but aren’t as well suited for off-the-bike walking comfort and traction. E-BIKE Touring Shoes are in the Goldilocks zone, providing the pedaling performance of cycling shoes on the bike—with natural comfort and walkability off the bike.
ET shoes offer many advantages over non-cycling shoes. They provide longer riding comfort and improved efficiency, better bike control on a variety of flat pedal types, amazing grip on variable terrain, all while preserving a more natural heel strike and foot roll.
1. POWER TRANSFER BLADE
Our ET shoes’ semi-rigid mid-sole enhances efficiency and comfort for long trips on and off the bike.
A carefully balanced power transfer blade helps riders get the most out of each pedal stroke by reducing power loss by up to ½ vs. typical non-cycling shoes, and decreases foot and leg fatigue on longer rides.
These significant energy savings get you where you’re going with less effort and more comfort.
2. ADAPTIVE CONTROL
E-BIKE Touring Shoes provide longer riding comfort, better bike control and a more natural stride. They feature high-quality rubber outsoles with a special sole block pattern and adaptive cross-groves that provide amazing grip on various types of flat pedal designs and ground surfaces.
