The 2016 Vuelta a Espana is a 21 stage race running from Saturday, August 20th to Sunday, September 11th 2016 over a total distance of 2,060 miles through Spain. Along with the Tour de France and Giro D'Italia, the Vuelta is one of cycling's three week long Grand Tour races. The first edition of the race took place in 1935, and was halted for some time during the Spanish Civil War and World War II. The race is now in it's 71st edition.
