Boost your riding capacity with Shimano’s largest e-bike batteries
New 630Wh batteries to extend your time in the saddle; new 12-sp chainrings and computer display add to choice for SHIMANO E-BIKE SYSTEMS consumers.
We introduced three new e-bike batteries into our SHIMANO E-BIKE SYSTEMS line-up including internal and external versions of its 630Wh largest capacity batteries for even longer rides.
The high-performance BT-E8036 becomes our largest integrated battery with a range-expanding 630Wh capacity.
The BT-E8035-L integrated battery has the same dimensions but comes with a smaller 504Wh capacity and a faster 4-hour charging time (80% charge in 2.5 hours).
As well as the two downtube integrated options, the new 630Wh BT-E8016 becomes our largest external battery, coming with a new fitting port, the BM-E8016 battery mount.
To upgrade from a current 504Wh BT-E8010 external battery to the 630Wh BT-E8016 external battery you need to change the current battery mount to the new BM-E8016 battery mount. This is because the 630Wh battery requires a reinforced battery holder to accommodate the change in its physical size. You can contact your local dealer for more information.
Much like other SHIMANO E-BIKE SYSTEMS batteries, the new BT-E8036, BT-E8035-L and BT-E8016 offer an extremely long lifetime. Even after 1000 full charge cycles (which would take 19 years of once a week charges to reach!) the new batteries will still hold 60% of their capacity. This means you can focus on the trail rather than on your battery indicator.
With these new SHIMANO E-BIKE SYSTEMS additions you now have the choice of 10 batteries with either rear carrier, external type or downtube-integrated positions and faster-charging 418Wh or 504Wh batteries or extended riding capacity 630Wh options.
The new 630Wh internal BT-E8036 battery weighs 3.7kg, the 630Wh external BT-E8016 battery weighs 3.5kg, and the 504Wh BT-E8035-L internal battery weighs 3.15kg.
Crankset additions
E-bike cranksets receive an addition with a new 12-speed chainring compatible with 157mm O.L.D. hubs. The SM-CRE80-12-SB chainring comes in 34T or 36T options, both with DYNAMIC CHAIN ENGAGEMENT+ teeth to prevent the possibility of dropping a chain.
New cycle computer display
A new addition is also coming to SHIMANO E-BIKE SYSTEMS urban e-bike controls that will make handlebar set ups even cleaner. A new unified cycle computer display (SC-E5000) comes with integrated switches for operating the assist mode as well as additional buttons for operating lights and changing display menus. The SC-E5000 computer is compatible with existing SHIMANO E-BIKE SYSTEMS system, allowing you upgrade your existing e-bike, and it is expected on model year 2021 e-bikes coming from manufacturers later in the year.
