SHIMANO is kicking off the summer mountain bike season with a fresh event setup featuring an interactive XTR experience trailer and a brand-new fleet of XTR-equipped demo bikes. The XTR trailer travels to events across North America, including the Northwest Tune-Up Festival, where attendees got to experience XTR performance firsthand.

North West Tune-Up Festival

What do you get when you combine live music, epic mountain bike trails, and a massive lineup of demo bikes? The Northwest Tune-Up Festival in Bellingham, Washington, the largest MTB festival in the Pacific Northwest and one of the most unique events on the summer calendar.

This year’s festival took place over three days, from Friday to Sunday, offering non-stop action both on and off the bike. Riders took to Bellingham’s world-class trails during the day, then enjoyed evenings with food trucks, local brews, and live music. The event also featured skills clinics, races, and an FMB Freestyle showdown, keeping the festival vibes high from start to finish.

New XTR Experience

SHIMANO went big at this year’s Tune-Up with the full XTR experience trailer, giving festival-goers a hands-on introduction to the all-new XTR M9200 Di2. Riders were able to see the new components up close, ask questions, and most importantly, take them out for a spin. Our demo fleet, equipped with the latest SHIMANO tech, included bikes from top brands and covered everything from XC to enduro and e-MTB.

Whether you were looking to test the new XTR or just wanted to join a group ride with SHIMANO athletes, the weekend offered something for everyone.

SHIMANO Athlete Lead Rides

SHIMANO athletes were out in full force at Northwest Tune-Up, leading group rides and sharing tips on how to navigate the terrain of Bellingham’s Galbraith trail network. Riders like Jill Kintner, Bryn Atkinson, JT Fisher, Talus Turk, Thomas Vanderham, and Matt Hunter guided groups through technical features, flowing singletrack, and everything in between.

Between laps, festival-goers had the chance to connect with these athletes, asking questions about gear setup, line choices, riding technique, and what they love about the new XTR. The experience didn’t stop with pro riders either. Some attendees even had the opportunity to ride alongside SHIMANO’s MTB product team and engineers, getting a unique, behind-the-scenes look at the development of XTR M9200 Di2.
