AUTO SHIFT

AUTO SHIFT is an evolving technology designed to keep you in the right gear at every moment. Since we develop it in-house, SHIMANO has the power to continue building upon this revolutionary system through firmware updates. We can further improve aspects like gear shift timing and control to optimize the technology for each riding style and assist setting. This also makes it possible to add new features like a self-learning function for internal shifting units and the ability to hold a manually shifted gear in AUTO SHIFT mode.

FREE SHIFT

FREE SHIFT enables you to change gears at any time, even while coasting, in either AUTO SHIFT or manual mode. Designed for Di2 shifting systems, FREE SHIFT ensures e-bikers are always ready for the unexpected by providing quick and efficient gear changes whenever needed. E-MTBers can dive into corners confidently, knowing they can shift and exit the turn in the right gear. Commuters and trekkers can downshift to an easier gear while descending or coasting to a stop so they’re ready to speed away when it’s time. However you ride, this SHIMANO original technology is designed to make your biking experience more comfortable and efficient.

INTER-5E

E-bike Di2 Internal Geared Hub Automatic Shifting (INTER-8/INTER-5E)

EP8/EP6/E6100 and E5000 series drive units in combination with a Di2-compatible 8/5 speed internal geared hub offer full automatic shifting. SHIMANO E-BIKE SYSTEMS automatically selects and shifts into the optimum gear, based on the number of crank rotations and speed.

Start mode

Start mode, which automatically shifts to a favorite gear for an easy re-start after stopping for a traffic light, is especially useful in urban areas where stop-and-go riding are frequently repeated.
Also, Automatic shifting, which automatically shifts to the optimum gear based on the rider’s cadence and speed, recognizes the manual shift operation by the learning function and automatically fine-tunes future automatic shift timing to the rider’s preference, is more comfortable ride. With the E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist app, the starting gear and the gear shift timing can be customized.
