Our total system engineering approach means that the SHIMANO ecosystem is not only offering perfect harmony with SHIMANO components but extends to products of connected partners. We have a licensing development program on a contract basis which allows compatible battery manufacturers, wireless device manufactures and even bike brands to utilize Shimano proprietary communication profile to develop products compatible with Shimano products. This can create a more open and integrated product portfolio for both bike brands and end-user.

Compatible Batteries' Service Support Program
To optimize handling for dealers and bike brands, we will newly introduce a battery service program to battery service program members (Darfon and Trend Power).
- Dealers can expect the Shimano normal handling standards and won't have to handle SHIMANO STEPS system and battery claims respectively any more. Rather, dealers can unify their service contact and expect a faster turnaround, erasing handling complexities.
- Bike brands can count on Shimano's world leading service support network in bicycle industry. Shimano service network will be handling the service cases for selected compatible batteries based on our structured and well-established practices, following all our rigorous policies, practices and standards, reducing the burden for the bike brands.
- Compatible batteries will feature a special ‘SHIMANO STEPS SERVICE' sticker and dealers will also be able to see the battery model number in Shimano's E-TUBE PROJECT to check it can be supported.
Availability of Service Program
The battery service program is not available in all areas at the same time, availability will differ per region. EU coverage in selected countries as listed below starts from February, 2021.

How To Confirm If A Battery Is Supported
Compatible batteries will feature a special ‘SHIMANO STEPS service' sticker and participating stores will also be able to see the battery model number in Shimano's E-TUBE Project application to check it can be supported.
Step-1. Check for the special logo on the battery
Supported batteries have a SHIMANO STEPS SERVICE logo (Refer to the accompanying image)
Step-2. Check with the E-TUBE PROJECT application for Windows (from 4.0.0 version)
After connecting the bike, a special “SUPPORTED BY SHIMANO” status icon will appear for supported batteries.
