Designed to withstand the extreme demands of real-world riding, the new DEORE XT rear derailleur is purpose-built to take rock strikes and hard impacts without missing a beat. The derailleur's low-profile design helps it avoid blunt force impacts, while the unique wedge shape allows it to glance off trail obstacles, so you can keep pedaling without interruption.
If a catastrophic impact does happen, the DEORE XT rear derailleur features SHIMANO’s new automatic impact recovery function. This allows the derailleur to pivot away from the trail obstacle to lessen the force of the impact, and then it snaps right back into place. No drama, no interruption, just smooth sailing.
Ready to take on the toughest trails, the DEORE XT rear derailleur is built with a wide-link structure, an alloy solid pulleys for added durability. It utilizes SHIMANO’s new chain stabilizing technology with a dual-spring design to reduce the chance of skipping or dropping your chain. This comes thanks to a higher chain tension for better chain wrap and retention.
The DEORE XT wireless Di2 derailleur is powered by a long-lasting rechargeable battery that’s tucked away inside the derailleur body. It is sealed off and secure, so you can pick your way through rough, rocky terrain with confidence in every shift.
The Di2 rear derailleur comes in two wireless options: one with a long-cage for use with the wide-range 10-51T cassette and a shorter, trail-clearance-boosting mid-cage for use with the 9-45T cassette. With either setup, you’re getting SHIMANO’s 12-speed HYPERGLIDE+ shifting, now even faster thanks to the new Di2 wireless protocol.
For e-MTB riders, there are two wired derailleur options that plug into your bike’s existing e-bike battery and bring SHIMANO’s legendary reliability along for the ride. The long-cage RD-M8260-12 is compatible with 12-speed HYPERGLIDE+ drivetrains, while the RD-M8260-11L is designed for use with SHIMANO’s high-durability 11-speed LINKGLIDE drivetrains. Want to shift with a quick tap or hold it down for multiple gear shifts? Prefer a double-click or want to keep things tight with single-shift mode? It’s all there, plus a third programmable button you can set up to control your GPS unit or use to fine-tune your derailleur mid-ride.
The new DEORE XT brakes deliver powerful and reliable modulation for whatever the trail throws at you. Riders can tune their brake setup utilizing a single brake lever and pairing it with either the more powerful four-piston BR-M8220 caliper or the lighter weight BR-M8200 (post mount) and BR-MT805 (flat mount) two-piston calipers.
The new lever design hugs your fingers just right, encouraging a balanced, aggressive stance on the bike. And thanks to upgraded seals and special low-viscosity mineral oil, your brakes stay cool, quiet, and consistent, even on those long descent that tests the nerves.
Rounding out the DEORE XT M8200 lineup are new WH-M8200 alloy wheels that are light enough for tackling steep alpine climbs yet tough enough to hammer through the roughest terrain.
