en-GLOBAL

Gravel cyclists value independence, seeking adventure beyond the beaten path. We thrive on exploration, embracing the freedom to choose our unique paths down the roads less traveled. That's why SHIMANO strives to meet gravel riders where they are-and then innovate in meaningful ways that push the two-wheeled experience forward. This commitment to practical innovation-and not change for change's sake-is the driving force behind the newest addition to the GRX gravel-specific component family, which now includes our first fully wireless drop bar drivetrain.

Building on wireless cockpit technology first introduced with SHIMANO's 2x12 speed road and gravel groups, GRX RX827 incorporates the completely wireless setup debuted on the groundbreaking M9200-series XTR mountain bike rear derailleur. Delivering eye-blink operating speed combined with ruggedly reliable performance and long-lasting durability, the new 1x12 electronic option has the functional versatility gravel riders need, from hardcore racers to weekend explorers to adventurous bike packers.

With the launch of RX827, the GRX family now includes a complete range of mechanical and electronic shifting options in the popular 1x12 configuration and more traditional 2x12-speed setup. Now, gravel riders can fully tailor their drivetrain to their specific needs. And with no special frame requirements, this lightning-fast wireless shifting system can be easily installed on any gravel bike-including the one you already own. Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) compatibility is not required.

Robust Wireless Shifting

Borrowing its design from SHIMANO's well-received wireless electronic shifting mountain bike options, the centerpiece of GRX RX827 is the new 1x12-speed rear derailleur, which features the same survivability features as its flat bar brethren, including a low-profile design, robust skid plate, internally housed battery, and automatic impact recovery function. This collection of cutting-edge countermeasures results in a set-and-forget design that allows you to stay focused on the road or trail ahead no matter how rowdy things get.

New SHIMANO SHADOW ES technology, which is offered on the single RX827 SGS long-cage specification with a low-profile wedge design and tucked-away chain stabilizer unit, minimizes exposure to impacts. By eliminating sharp edges, the new derailleur glances off obstacles and handles most rock strikes. When the inevitable impact happens (because stuff always happens at some point), the derailleur can absorb the force and quickly reset itself thanks to SHIMANO's automatic impact recovery function, which instantly returns the derailleur to its original position without missing a shift. You may not even know there was a rock strike in the first place. It's that good.

This next-level peace of mind is combined with a wide link structure and solid pulley construction that further enhance the derailleur body's ability to bounce back, ensuring seamless functionality even through harsh off-road conditions.

This gravel-specific wireless shifting system also boasts SHIMANO's new chain stabilizing technology, where a dual spring design creates higher chain tension for better chain wrap and retention-and little chance of skipping or dropping your chain. And it's compatible with all existing SHIMANO 12-speed wireless shifters, including GRX, DURA-ACE, ULTEGRA, SHIMANO 105 Di2, plus XTR, and DEORE XT flat bar Di2 models.

Along with Di2 DUAL CONTROL LEVER integration, the new RD-RX827 wireless rear derailleur seamlessly pairs with existing RX820 cranksets, brakes, and SHIMANO 10-51T 12-speed cassettes. This combination delivers SHIMANO's hallmark smooth and precise Di2 performance in a sleek, robust single-chainring package. Riders can then choose between 40T and 42T chainrings to create a tailored 1x setup with an expansive gearing range that adapts to your preferred riding style and favored terrain. So go ahead and build up your bike just the way you want it, knowing you won't need to compromise on component choice because of compatibility issues.

Simplified Brake-Only Lever Option

Along with the new wireless rear derailleur, SHIMANO is launching the BL-RX825-L hydraulic disc brake lever. This brake-only option delivers the same ergonomic comfort and control as SHIMANO RX825 DUAL CONTROL LEVERS, including raised hoods with ribbed surfaces, flared drop bar optimization, and anti-slip brake levers, but foregoes any electronic shift buttons for a lighter, simpler 1x setup option.

Pioneering Gravel Ergonomics

Whether utilizing the new BL-RX825-L brake lever or sticking with a pair of GRX ST-RX825 DUAL CONTROL LEVERS, SHIMANO 1x12-speed GRX offers a variety of shifting possibilities thanks to Di2’s customizable buttons as well as add-on accessory switches. Carried over from previous generations, the GRX RX825 DUAL CONTROL LEVERS feature three Di2 buttons-two buttons are located on the shift paddles while a third button is positioned on the inside of the hood. The ST-RX825 levers also allow for accessory shift buttons, which can be placed on the tops, drops, or aero bars for additional shifting options.

Each Di2 button can be assigned various functions, including shifting the rear derailleur, controlling compatible lights or cycle computers, or it can be used as a remote function button for the rear derailleur. With the latter option, riders can make shifting adjustments on the fly without taking their hands off the handlebars.
