POWER METER
QUICK STARTUP GUIDE
Set the power meter using the E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist.
STEP 1
Install E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist on your smartphone.
STEP 2
Create a SHIMANO ID and log in.
Tap [sign up]. STEP 3
Connect E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist with your power meter via Bluetooth® LE. * Before operating E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist, press the button on the power meter control unit to enter the waiting for Bluetooth® LE connection state.
STEP 4
Update the power meter firmware to the latest version.
STEP 5
Select a communication method suitable for the device used from
[Force Vector], [Cycling Power], and [Bicycle Power].
The recommended settings are shown in the table.Recommended settings Device used ANT+®/ANT® Bluetooth® LE Smartphone (E-TUBE RIDE) - [Force Vector] Garmin® device [Force Vector] * [Cycling Power] Wahoo device [Force Vector] - - Check here for models that support communication with the power meter using Bluetooth® LE.
- A Garmin® device and smartphone (E-TUBE RIDE) or a Wahoo device and smartphone (E-TUBE RIDE) can be connected to the power meter at the same time.
STEP 6
Update the power meter firmware to the latest version.
STEP 7
Disconnect your power meter from E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist.
Tap [Disconnect].
You can improve the accuracy of power measurement by pairing a SHIMANO power meter* with a compatible Di2 rear derailleur*.
*Target products: FC-R9200-P/FC-R8100-P/RD-R9250/RD-R8150/RD-R7150

If you are not sure whether the bicycle with power meter is registered as MyBike
*You can register the bicycle as MyBike to use more functions, such as those for registering bicycle information and sharing data with other SHIMANO applications.

STEP 1
Update the firmware of the rear derailleur
STEP 1-1
Start E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist.
If this screen is displayed, the initial settings of the application are complete. Proceed to step 1-2. Notice -1

Update the firmware of the Di2 rear derailleur from the UPDATE tab. If the firmware is already the latest version, proceed to step 2.

STEP 2
Enable ANT communication for the rear derailleur
STEP 2-1
Enable ANT communication for the rear derailleur. If the wireless communication method is already set to ANT+/Bluetooth® LE, tap [Disconnect] and proceed to the next step.
STEP 3
Update the firmware of the power meter
STEP 3-1
Connect E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist with the power meter via Bluetooth® LE. Press the button of the power meter control unit to enable the Bluetooth® LE connection mode.
STEP 3-2
Update the firmware of the power meter. If the power meter has the latest firmware, skip this step and proceed to step 4-1.

STEP 4
Pair the power meter and rear derailleur

Pair the power meter with the Di2.

Disconnect the E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist from the power meter.
Tap [DISCONNECT].

The bicycle registered as MyBike is only displayed if you are logged in to the application with a SHIMANO ID.
Follow the procedure below to log in to the application.STEP 1-2
Set the Di2 bicycle to the Bluetooth® LE connection mode.
Press and hold the function button until the LED flashes blue. STEP 1-3
Connect E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist with the Di2 bicycle via the Bluetooth® LE.
Notice
If a screen such as the following is displayed at this stage, the connected bicycle is not registered as MyBike or the application is not logged in to a SHIMANO ID.
Log in to SHIMANO ID and start the procedure again, or proceed from step 1-3 of procedure A.STEP 1-4
Proceed to the [Power accuracy improvement] screen and update the firmware of the Di2 rear derailleur. If the firmware is already updated, the procedure automatically proceeds to step 6.

STEP 2
Enable ANT communication for the rear derailleur
STEP 2-1
Enable ANT communication for the rear derailleur. If the wireless communication method is already set to ANT+/Bluetooth® LE, tap [Disconnect] and proceed to the next step.
Tap [Enable ANT communication]. STEP 2-2
Disconnect the bicycle.
Notice
If both steps 1 and 2 were not required, the following dialog box indicating that the rear derailleur settings are complete is displayed.
Tap [OK] to close the dialog box, then tap [DISCONNECT].
The bicycle is disconnected, and the bicycle registration screen is displayed.STEP 3
Update the firmware of the power meter

Connect E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist with the power meter via Bluetooth® LE. Press the button of the power meter control unit to enable the Bluetooth® LE connection mode.

Update the firmware of the power meter. If the power meter has the latest firmware, skip this step and proceed to step 4.

Tap [DISCONNECT].
Procedure for creating a SHIMANO ID and registering the bicycle as MyBike with E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist
You can log in to the E-TUBE PROJECT application with a SHIMANO ID* to use more functions, such as those for registering bicycle information and sharing data with other SHIMANO applications.
*Some application functions are only available by logging in with a SHIMANO ID.

SHIMANO ID creation procedure
Tap the E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist icon to start the application, then display the SHIMANO ID PORTAL screen.
If you are starting the application for the first time
If you have used the application before
Perform the SHIMANO ID registration procedure.
Log in to the application with the registered ID and password.

MyBike registration procedure
Tap the E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist icon to start the application.
If this screen is displayed, you are logged in to the application with a SHIMANO ID. Proceed to step 2. Notice
The bicycle can only be registered as MyBike if you are logged in to the application with a SHIMANO ID.
Follow the instructions below to log in.Set the Di2 bicycle to the Bluetooth® LE connection mode.
Press and hold the function button until the LED flashes blue. Register the Di2 bicycle as MyBike.
Connect with the power meter.
Press the button of the power meter control unit to enable the Bluetooth® LE connection mode.Connect the power meter to the application, and assign it to the bicycle registered as MyBike in the previous procedure.
* A passkey is a 6-digit number that you need to enter on your smartphone when pairing your smartphone with a Bluetooth® device such as a wireless unit.
The default passkey is “000000” but you can set a passkey of your choice.
**By saving the passkey to the server, you can skip passkey entry, even when you change your smartphone, etc.
Setting up a device that receives power meter data (smartphone)
Check again that the communication method of the power meter is set as recommended in (5) in STEP 1.
STEP 1
Install E-TUBE RIDE on your smartphone.
STEP 2
Start E-TUBE RIDE and log in with the SHIMANO ID registered in STEP 1.
Tap [LOGIN]. STEP 3
Add a power meter as a sensor. * Before operating E-TUBE RIDE, press the button on the power meter control unit to enter the waiting for Bluetooth® LE connection state.
STEP 4
Power meter-related displays are available on the E-TUBE RIDE screen. * Please select the power meter-related item in the customization setting of the display item.
This completes the setup.
Ride the bicycle to see if the data is displayed and logged correctly.STEP 5
Start recording the driving log.
Tap the start log icon. STEP 6
Connect E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist with your power meter via Bluetooth® LE.
Setting up a device that receives power meter data (Garmin®)
Applicable models: Edge® 1040, Edge® 1040 Solar, Edge® 840, Edge® 840 Solar, Edge® 540, Edge® 540 Solar, Edge® 1030, Edge® 1030 Plus, *2 Edge® 1000, Edge® 830, *2 Edge® 820, Edge® 530, *1 *2 Edge® 520 Plus, *1 *2 Edge® 520
*1: Applicable models only support recording for Force Vector.
・When adding a power meter, it is recommended that you do not set the display screen during the registration process. After successfully registering the sensor, return to (6) in STEP 2 and select "Force Vector Viewer" to set the display screen.
・If the "Force Vector Viewer" does not display correctly, please repeat (6) in STEP 2 and reselect "Force Vector Viewer."
*2: Applicable models do not support Bluetooth® LE communication with the power meter.No information is displayed in the individual data fields (all items related to power, cadence and left-right balance).
Display it in the data field of Force Vector Viewer or record the activity and then check the data in SHIMANO CONNECT Lab.
Check again that the communication method of the power meter is set as recommended in (5) in STEP 1.
Setting up Force Vector on a Garmin® device is a two-part process.
Part One — (1) to (7) in STEP 2 are for setting up Force Vector data through "Connect IQ™ Store" call Force Vector Viewer. This part uses the ANT+®/ANT® sensor from the power meter.
Part Two — (9) in STEP 2 is for setting up standard power data through Bluetooth® LE sensor in the power meter.
Both parts are required to receive all power data on the Garmin® device.
STEP 1
Install "Connect IQ™ Store" on your smartphone.
* Pair your Garmin® device with Garmin Connect™ Mobile before installing the app.
If you do not have Garmin Connect™ Mobile installed, see here.STEP 2
When it is not the latest firmware, please perform one of the following operations to update it:
- Use the PC application (Garmin Express™)
- If the device supports Wi-Fi setup, update the firmware with this function to automatically update.
STEP 3
Start "Connect IQ™ Store" and search with "Shimano Force Vector". ● Sign in with your Garmin® account.
STEP 4
On the search result screen, download "Force Vector Viewer". * Customers using Edge® 520J, download "Force Vector Viewer for Edge® 520J".
STEP 5
Tap the sync icon on Garmin Connect™ Mobile to sync Garmin Connect™ Mobile with your Garmin® device.
When synced, "Force Vector Viewer" is downloaded on your Garmin® device.Tap the sync icon. STEP 6
In the display settings on the Garmin® device, select "Force Vector Viewer".
"Force Vector Viewer" is in [Connect IQ™] in the category selection. * The operation differs depending on the device used.STEP 7
To utilize Force Vector with Garmin®, there is pairing to apply with ANT+®/ANT® and Bluetooth® LE. Pair your Garmin® device with your power meter with ANT+®/ANT®.While your Garmin® device is set on Force Vector Viewer page, rotate the crank to start the power meter.
Your Garmin® device will detect the sensor and automatically pair to it.
You will know that the pairing was successful
when the Force Viewer page begins to display the power meter information in the data fields.- Pairing cannot be performed from the sensor settings of your Garmin® device.
- If paired with a different power meter, go to the Force Vector Viewer settings (see (8) in STEP 2) and change the power meter. Enter the correct ANT® ID or enter 0 to reset, then try pairing again.
STEP 8
The Force Vector Viewer settings can also be configured with Garmin Connect™ Mobile.
- Average [sec]: Set the number of seconds for averaging the displayed information. The default is set to 1 second (no averaging).
- Sensor ID: The power meter to be paired can be changed with one of the following methods.
Normally, the paired ANT® ID is displayed.- Enter the power meter ANT® ID directly to specify the power meter to be paired.
- Enter the default value [0] and pair with the power meter that is detected first.
STEP 9
Add your power meter as a sensor that provides Bluetooth® LE information.
- Press the button on the power meter control unit to enter the waiting for Bluetooth® LE connection state, then select your power meter in the sensor settings on your Garmin® device.
- Check here for models that support communication with the power meter using Bluetooth® LE.
STEP 10
Power meter-related information can be displayed on the Garmin® device display.
- The Force Vector Viewer data field can be selected as a data field placed on the training page. Display the Force Vector Viewer data field by one of the following 3 methods; (1) replacing the existing data field on the training page currently displayed, (2) increasing the number of items and adding the data field, and (3) increasing the number of training pages.
- If multiple activity profiles that use a power meter exist, ensure that the Force Vector Viewer data field is set to at least one of the data screens for each profile. Otherwise, your data may not be logged.
- The information displayed on the Force Vector Viewer data field varies depending on the display size. To display all the items available, set the number of split screens to 1 to display in full screen. Also, multiple data fields can be displayed on the same training page or on different training pages.
- Power, cadence, and left-right balance received from the power meter connected in [Force Vector] mode are displayed only on the Force Vector Viewer data field. Note that specifications do not allow them to be displayed in normal individual data fields (all the items related to power, cadence, and left-right balance). The information received from the power meter in [Cycling Power] mode or [Bicycle Power] mode can be displayed in normal individual data fields.
This completes the setup.
Ride the bicycle to see if the data is displayed and logged correctly.STEP 11
Start recording an activity.
* To upload your ride log to SHIMANO CONNECT Lab from this ride,
perform (1) to (4) in STEP 3 before you start logging your ride.- Start the timer with the data field set with Force Vector Viewer displayed on the screen of the Garmin® device. If you start the timer when it is not displayed, the Force Vector information will not be recorded.
STEP 12
Stop recording an activity and save the ride log.
If you have not installed Garmin Connect™ Mobile
Installation and pairing for Garmin Connect™ Mobile
Install Garmin Connect™ Mobile on your smartphone.
Create a Garmin® account and log in.
Tap [Create Account]. Pair your Garmin® device with Garmin Connect™ Mobile.
Setting up a device that receives power meter data (Wahoo)
Compatible models: ELEMNT BOLT, ELEMNT ROAM, ELEMNT
Confirm that the communication method of the power meter is set as recommended in (5) in STEP 1.
STEP 1
Add a power meter as a sensor that provides ANT® information.
* Press the button on the power meter control unit to enter the waiting for Bluetooth® LE connection state, then select your power meter in the sensor settings on your Wahoo device.
STEP 2
Configure the settings so that the information from the power meter is displayed on the data display screen (Data Field) of your Wahoo device.
* Once the sensor settings have been configured, the display setting screen opens automatically.
STEP 3
Power meter-related information can be displayed on the data display screen.
This completes the setup.
Ride the bicycle to see if the data is displayed and logged correctly.STEP 4
Start logging your ride.
To automatically upload your ride log to SHIMANO CONNECT Lab from the next ride, perform (1) to (4) in STEP 3 before you start logging your ride.
STEP 5
Stop logging your ride and save the ride log.
Transferring your data to SHIMANO CONNECT Lab (smartphone)
STEP 1
On the Ride Log List screen, select the ride log you want to upload.
STEP 2
Upload the ride log to SHIMANO CONNECT Lab.
STEP 3
Display the SHIMANO CONNECT Lab web page on your PC.

Transferring your data to SHIMANO CONNECT Lab (Garmin®)
STEP 1
Display the SHIMANO CONNECT Lab web page on your PC.

STEP 2
Use your SHIMANO ID registered in STEP 1 to log in.
STEP 3
Select "Force Vector supported power meter".
Select [Force Vector compatible power meter], then click [OK]. STEP 4
Link to your Garmin® account on the setting screen.
Set your Garmin® account.STEP 5
Once the ride log is saved, it is uploaded to Garmin Connect™ Mobile automatically.
When the ride log is uploaded to Garmin Connect™ Mobile,
it is uploaded to the linked SHIMANO CONNECT Lab.
After performing (1) to (4) in STEP 3, use your Garmin® device to log your ride
and check that the log can be uploaded to SHIMANO CONNECT Lab correctly.- Specifications allow the power meter data in [Force Vector] mode to be saved in a special format; therefore, information such as power and cadence is not displayed on Garmin Connect™ or linked third-party services.
To view the data, transfer the data to SHIMANO CONNECT Lab from Garmin Connect™. - Data can be transferred from SHIMANO CONNECT Lab to Strava, TrainingPeaks, or Today's Plan where you can view information such as power and cadence.
- Specifications allow Force Vector-related information to be logged and displayed every 2 seconds. Other information such as power, cadence, power balance, and pedaling efficiency is logged and displayed every second as usual.
- Specifications allow the power meter data in [Force Vector] mode to be saved in a special format; therefore, information such as power and cadence is not displayed on Garmin Connect™ or linked third-party services.
STEP 6
View and analyze the ride log.
- If it has not uploaded the travel log successfully, check the following items.
- If you click the bell mark at the top of the screen, does the message "Transfer" or "Analysis" appear?
If it is displayed, it is being processed in the cloud, so hold until the processing is completed. - If it is transferring from Garmin Connect™, are the travel data displayed on Garmin Connect™?
Check the setting screen if it is linked. If it is not linked, download the travel log from Garmin Connect™ and click [UPLOAD] at the top of the SHIMANO CONNECT Lab screen. - If it is uploading automatically from Garmin® Edge®, are the travel data displayed on the smartphone app?
Uploading from your smartphone may not have been carried out. Please confirm.
Transferring your data to SHIMANO CONNECT Lab (Wahoo)
STEP 1
Display the SHIMANO CONNECT Lab web page on your PC.

- The analysis screen of Force Vector does not support the display of smartphones. Please check from your PC or tablet.
STEP 2
Use your SHIMANO ID registered in STEP 1 to log in.
STEP 3
Select [Force Vector compatible power meter], then click [OK].
STEP 4
Link to your Wahoo account on the setting screen.
Set your Wahoo account.STEP 5
Once the ride log is saved, it is uploaded to Wahoo Fitness automatically.
When the ride log is uploaded to Wahoo Fitness, it is uploaded to the linked SHIMANO CONNECT Lab.
After performing (1) to (4) in STEP 3, use your Wahoo device to log your ride and check that the log can be uploaded to SHIMANO CONNECT Lab correctly.- To enable the ride log to be uploaded to Wahoo Cloud service, your Wahoo device must be connected via "ELEMNT" (Wahoo Fitness app) or "Wi-Fi".
STEP 6
View and analyze the ride log.
- If your ride log is not uploaded successfully, reconnect your Wahoo device to "ELEMNT" (Wahoo Fitness app) and check if your ride log is displayed on the history screen of the app.
