This new series of 12-speed GRX components utilizes SHIMANO's lightning-fast Di2 electronic shifting platform. The line includes a right-side DUAL CONTROL, two left-side brake-only lever options (one GRX-branded, the other SHIMANO-branded), and the GRX RX717 rear derailleur, which, when paired with a 10-51T 12-speed cassette, delivers the range, reliability, and shifting speed you need to pursue any off-road adventure.
A highlight of the new lineup is the GRX 12-speed ST-RX715-R Di2 Hydraulic Disc Brake DUAL CONTROL lever. This right-side lever offers a more affordable 1x12-speed wireless shifting option, ideal for budget-conscious riders. It features SHIMANO’s precise shifting, combined with powerful and predictable braking performance.
The ST-RX715-R lever ergonomics can be customized using the Reach Adjust functionality to find your perfect fit. Once set to your personal preferences, the ST-RX715-R lever delivers long-lasting, worry-free performance thanks to its extensive battery life (up to 4 years), utilizing easy-to-change CR1632 batteries.
For a simplified and lighter cockpit, pair the ST-RX715-R with the left-side GRX-branded BL-RS717 Hydraulic Disc Brake lever, which features matching shape and ergonomics, as well as the same easy-to-modify Reach Adjust function.
Riders already using DURA-ACE ST-R9270, ULTEGRA ST-R8170, and SHIMANO 105 ST-R7170 can also opt for the left-side SHIMANO-branded BL-RS717-LS for a lower-cost option that has the same ergonomics and feel.
At the heart of it all is the fully wireless GRX RX717 rear derailleur that pairs seamlessly with a 10-51T 12-speed cassette. It features a wide link structure, durable aluminum skid-plate design, and built-in Automatic Impact Recovery function, which allows the rear derailleur to instantly return to its original position after an impact. This derailleur withstands the rigors of off-road riding while retaining its lightning-quick and ultra-precise shifting performance.
The GRX RX717 rear derailleur also features a slimmer and stronger SHIMANO SHADOW ES design, delivering superb chain stabilization and security. And the new rear derailleur has a protected battery housing that’s neatly tucked out of harm’s way but remains easily accessible for removing the battery to charge. The derailleur uses the same battery as GRX RX827, XTR M9250, DEORE XT M8250, and DEORE M6250, making battery swaps between bikes a breeze.
Like all Shimano electronic Di2 systems, the RX717 derailleur and RX715 DUAL CONTROL lever are compatible with SHIMANO’s easy-to-use E-TUBE application. When paired, it allows you to choose your preferred shifting speed, customize shift buttons, and update rear derailleur firmware.
