Shimano Bicycle Division Limited Warranty

SHIMANO Branded Product:

Warrants to the original owner that the SHIMANO bicycle division product for which they received this warranty, is free from a defect in material and workmanship for a period of two years including STEPS Drive Units and Wheels. Their DURA-ACE and XTR components are covered for a period of three years from the date of original purchase, including DURA-ACE and XTR wheels. SHIMANO footwear and soft goods are warranted for a period of one year.

LAZER Branded Product:

Warrants to the original owner that the LAZER product for which they received this warranty, is free from a defect in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of purchase.

 

PRO Branded Product:

Warrants that the PRO products are free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal conditions and reasonable use for two years from the date of original retail purchase.

 

PRO warrants that PRO branded handlebars, stems, and seat posts from the model year 2017 and onwards will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal conditions and reasonable use for 10 years from the date of original purchase.

HOW TO MAKE A CLAIM

The quickest process is to visit your local Team SHIMANO dealer with the product in question and your original dated receipt. Team SHIMANO dealers have access to an expedited warranty evaluation process which could provide you with a replacement significantly quicker than submitting the item directly to us.

 

PLEASE NOTE: All battery-related issues must be handled through your local Team SHIMANO dealer.

 

If the product in question is on a new bicycle and within the warranty period provided by the bicycle manufacturer, then contact the bicycle manufacturer or the business that sold you the bicycle.

SHIMANO Product Warranty Details

LIMITS OF THE WARRANTY

SHIMANO’s sole obligation under this warranty is to repair or replace the product, at SHIMANO’s option.

LIMITATIONS OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES

The duration of any implied warranty or condition, of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or otherwise, on this product shall be limited to the duration of the express warranty set forth above. In no event shall SHIMANO be liable for any loss, inconvenience or damage, whether direct, incidental, consequential or otherwise resulting from breach of any express or implied warranty or condition, of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or otherwise with respect to this product except as set forth herein. Some locations may not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts and some locations may not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusion may not apply to you.

 

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which may vary from location to location.

WARRANTY EXPLANATION

This warranty applies only to the original owner and is not transferable. To submit a claim for evaluation, the original proof of purchase is required. For the quickest claim processing, we recommend you visit your local Team SHIMANO dealer. All claims must be made during the respective warranty period.

 

This warranty in no way replaces or is an extension of a complete bicycle manufacturer’s warranty. Retailers and wholesale outlets for SHIMANO products are not authorized to modify this warranty in any way.

 

It is the consumer’s responsibility to regularly examine the product to determine the need for normal service or replacement.

THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THE FOLLOWING:

  • 1. SHIMANO products that have been modified, neglected or poorly maintained, used in competition or for commercial purposes, misused or abused, or involved in accidents.
  • 2. Damage occurring during shipment of the products (such claims must be presented directly to the carrier).
  • 3. Damage to products resulting from improper assembly or repair.
  • 4. Damage resulting from causes other than non-conformities in materials and workmanship, including but not limited to, lack of technical skill, competence, or experience of the user.
  • 5. Damage or deterioration to the surface finish, aesthetics, or appearance of the product.
  • 6. The labor required to remove and/or re-fit and re-adjust the product within the bicycle assembly.
  • 7. Normal wear to the product.
  • 8. Products purchased from unauthorized dealers (Including, without limitation, products purchased through (i) third party auction sites (ii) unauthorized dealers selling via third party marketplaces, or (iii) dealers selling altered or modified products
  • 9. Counterfeit products

Wheel Warranty Details

SHIMANO warrants all wheels to be free from defects in materials or workmanship for the duration of the warranty period. All DURA-ACE and XTR wheels are covered by a three-year warranty, while all other wheels are covered by a two-year warranty, in accordance with SHIMANO PRODUCT warranty details.

Wear and Tear

This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear. Wear and tear parts may be damaged as a result of normal use, failure to service according to SHIMANO recommendations, and/or use or installation in non-recommended applications. Wear and tear parts include: Bearings, Corrosion, Dust seals, Free hubs, Driver bodies, Pawls, Spokes, Sprockets, Wheel braking surfaces, Tubeless tapes and decals.

PRO Product Warranty Details

WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS

This warranty does not cover:

 

  • The PRO Product if it has been modified or repaired by a person other than an authorized PRO dealer
  • The PRO Product if it has been used for rental or commercial purposes
  • The PRO Product if PRO's mark or serial number has been defaced or removed from the PRO Product
  • Damage resulting from causes other than defects in materials and workmanship, including but not limited to accident, abuse, misuse, neglect, improper assembly, improper repair, improper maintenance, alteration, modification, or other abnormal, excessive, or improper use
  • Damage occurring during shipment of the PRO Product
  • Products that are not manufactured by or for Shimano (whether or not packaged or sold with the Shimano Product at the time of purchase)
  • Damage resulting from use of products that are defective or incompatible with the PRO Product
  • Damage resulting from normal wear and tear, including but not limited to damage or deterioration to the surface finish, aesthetics, or appearance of the PRO Product. Normal wear and tear includes any damage to or resulting from the following parts of adjustable seat posts: dust seals, bushings, down tubes, cartridges, and (brass) inserts.

 

This warranty expressly provides for the repair or replacement of a defective PRO Product and is the sole remedy of the warranty. Any and all other remedies and damage that may otherwise be applicable are excluded, including but not limited to, incidental and consequential damages.
