OSAKA, Japan (May 8, 2020) – In addition to the new SHIMANO DEORE components announced today, Shimano also unveils new top-tier 12-speed MTB components as well as other mid-tier groups and features that significantly expand new technologies and options to a wider cross section of riders.
- - Expanded 12-speed crankset options: Consumers and manufacturers now have the choice of 22 different 12-speed crankset offerings from Shimano.
- - MICRO SPLINE wheels: SHIMANO now offers five complete 12-speed wheel options that range from SHIMANO DEORE XT to the value level.
- - Flat-Mount Brake Calipers: Three new flat-mount, disc brake calipers are now available in SHIMANO XTR, SHIMANO DEORE XT, and SLX lines.
- - New components debut for entry-level mountain bikes.
SHIMANO 12-Speed Mountain Bike Cranksets
FC-M9130-1 – XTR Crank
The XTR M9130-1 crank brings Shimano’s flagship drivetrain technology to the growing number of mountain bikes using the 56.5mm chain line, which creates greater frame and wheel strength as well as stiffness while greatly reducing restrictions on maximum tire size. A narrow Q factor of 171mm is maintained by using the low-profile arms from FC-M9100, giving riders the benefits of a wider chain line frame without affecting the biomechanics of pedaling.
The lightweight, direct-mount crank features Shimano’s signature HOLLOWTECH II crankset design with DYNAMIC CHAIN ENGAGEMENT+ chainrings for excellent chain engagement and retention.
FC-MT610-2/B2 - 2x12-Speed Crank
A new SHIMANO MTB 12-speed double (2x12-speed) crankset delivers SHIMANO DEORE-level technology and value for 142mm and 148mm O.L.D. rear hub spacing. The direct-mount FC-MT610-2/B2 comes with a 36-26T chainring combination in either 170mm or 175mm crank arm lengths.

WH-MT601 12-Speed Wheels
Shimano expands its offering of 12-speed mountain bike wheels with the new WH-MT601 MICRO SPLINE aluminum wheelset – a MICRO SPLINE version of the affordable WH-MT600 wheelset. These wheels are a great option for riders looking to upgrade to tubeless, providing 27.5 and 29-inch variants in both 110mm/148 mm and 100mm/142 mm O.L.D. spacing.
Flat-Mount XTR, DEORE XT, and SLX Brakes
BR-M9110, BR-M8110, BR-M7110
Three new pairs of flat-mount, disc brake calipers are now available in XTR, SHIMANO DEORE XT, and SLX varieties. The 2-piston calipers are designed to integrate cleanly into the rear triangle. The sleek appearance fits ideally on bikes that use brakes with a flat mount interface for the rear caliper. These XTR (BR-M9110), DEORE XT (BR-M8110) and SLX (BR-M7110) versions are compatible with both resin or metal pads and with or without fins. Calipers can be adopted for a choice of two rotor sizes: BR-M9110 accommodates a maximum rotor size of 160mm and 180mm rotors for M8110/BR-M7110.
SHIMANO ALIVIO and TOURNEY Components
For the 2021 SHIMANO Alivio and SHIMANO Tourney groups, the new streamlined manufacturing techniques were applied to reduce the price while bringing to market the same reliable performance.
For 2021, SHIMANO ALIVIO M3100 2x9-speed or 3x9-speed drivetrains receive new updated shifters and derailleurs. SHIMANO ALIVIO utilizes Shimano hallmark technologies including SHIMANO SHADOW RD derailleurs and RAPIDFIRE PLUS MONO technology in the left shifter to simplify the riding experience. New SHIMANO ALIVIO M3100 utilizes HG shifting for smooth gear changes.
For 3x7-speed and 3x6-speed drivetrains, the new SHIMANO TOURNEY components feature REVOSHIFT shifters, a new freewheel with better corrosion resistance, and new derailleurs with SIS Index shifting. SHIMANO TOURNEY provides reliable shifting performance with a broad combination of gear options (either 12-28/32 or 14-28/34) for riders of all levels.
