Your Ride, Amplified.

It’s not about cycling less. It’s about experiencing more.

The new SHIMANO EP810 Series E-Bike System exists to make e-biking feel more natural, not more complicated. Because the best technology does not pull you out of the ride. It works quietly in the background, responding to your effort, your terrain, and your intention.

The new EP810 Series is lightweight and strong. It naturally boosts every rider's energy, skill, and spirit. The technology complements the rider, improving performance without diminishing the pure joy of cycling. Its design draws on our signature Japanese craftsmanship and a century of experience in cycling engineering. The result is a balanced, natural riding experience that delivers the ideal blend of power, control, efficiency, and durability in a lightweight package.

One Complete System

Let’s back up a bit.

An e-bike system is more than a motor. It is the complete integration of the drive unit, battery, drivetrain, controls, display, software, and charging. Each component communicates with the others in real time, responding to rider input and changing terrain so power delivery, shifting, and support work together.

True Auto: The Heart of EP810

At the core of EP810 is True Auto. True Auto brings together two intelligent technologies: AUTO SHIFT and AUTO ASSIST. Working in harmony, they allow the bike to continuously adapt both gear selection and support level without the rider needing to intervene.

AUTO SHIFT keeps you in the right gear. AUTO ASSIST delivers the right level of support. Together, they create a true set-it-and-ride experience.

On steep climbs, EP810 can provide controlled support to help maintain traction and momentum. On flatter terrain, it can reduce unnecessary output to preserve range. Through technical transitions, it helps keep power and shifting smooth, so you stay focused on the trail ahead.

AUTO SHIFT Gen 3: Always in the Right Gear

That feeling when you stop thinking about shifting.

We upgraded the algorithm and introduced motion sensing capabilities for our AUTO SHIFT technology to better understand rider input and terrain. By monitoring cadence, torque, speed, and slope (or gradient), the system can calculate the most effective gear and shift automatically when you need to. AUTO SHIFT is only available with Di2 rear derailleurs.

The result is smoother riding across changing conditions. Climbing out of a corner. Rolling into a steeper incline. Accelerating over uneven ground. EP810 helps keep the drivetrain in the right gear, so your effort stays consistent and your rhythm stays intact.

Riders can also fine-tune their preferred cadence directly on the bike with a simple adjustment. No complicated menu diving. No interruption to the ride. Just quick, intuitive control.

AUTO ASSIST: The Right Support at the Right Moment

What if your bike always knew how much support you needed?

AUTO ASSIST, integrated into TRAIL+ mode, dynamically adjusts assistance based on rider input and terrain. It responds to how hard you pedal and to how the slope of the ground is changing beneath you.

On climbs, support increases smoothly to help maintain speed and control. On descents, it reduces assistance to preserve handling. On flatter sections, it manages output efficiently to help extend battery range.

The feeling is powerful, but not overpowering. Support arrives when it is needed and settles when it is not. That makes the bike easier to trust, easier to control, and easier to ride for longer.

Controllability: Natural Handling without the Surges

Power matters. But how that power arrives matters even more.

EP810 delivers the natural ride feel Shimano is known for, with refined controllability across climbs, transitions, and technical terrain. The system responds predictably to rider input, helping the bike feel stable, balanced, and connected to the ground.

A natural riding feeling is not about simply adding more power. It is about preserving the essence of cycling. When you ride, it should still feel like your effort is driving the bike. Not the system.

With EP810, the harder you push, the more you get. Support feels proportional, controlled, and connected. The bike remains an extension of the rider, not a machine pulling ahead.

Compact, Lightweight, and Powerful

EP810 is engineered around balance. At just 2.3 kg, the DU-EP810 drive unit supports responsive handling and agile bike design. Its compact shape improves frame integration and ground clearance, giving riders confidence in technical sections and challenging terrain.

With up to 100 Nm of torque and up to 750 W peak output, EP810 delivers strong, consistent support across a wide cadence range up to 160 rpm. Whether you are grinding up a steep climb or spinning through a fast transition, the system is designed to keep support smooth and stable. This means we're keeping power-to-weight in an ideal balance.

Quiet by Design

EP810 is designed to reduce mechanical noise, helping riders stay connected to the trail, the bike, and the natural environment around them. A quieter system makes the ride feel calmer, more focused, and more immersive.

Because when the technology is working properly, you should not be thinking about it. You should be listening to the tires on the trail. Your breathing on the climb. The shift in terrain beneath you.

Lift & Shift: Restart with Confidence

Steep climbs don’t always go to plan. That is why we developed the Hill Hold and Lift & Shift functions. When you activate Walk Assist while on an incline, your motor will automatically help hold its position if you stand still. Once you are in Hill Hold, Lift & Shift simplifies restarting on steep terrain.

Lift & Shift simplifies restarting on steep terrain. When stopped mid-climb, riders can press and hold the assist-down button to set the bike to walk mode. Then lift the rear wheel and double press the assist-down button for the system to automatically shift into a lower gear, preparing the bike for a smooth restart with minimal effort. It is a small feature that can make a big difference when the gradient is high, traction is limited, and momentum matters.

Assist Remain and Carry Over

Assist Remain and Assist Carry Over help riders maintain control and momentum when the trail gets complicated.

Assist Remain keeps assisting consistently and smoothly even when the rider's pedaling input is uneven and gets lower instantly. This helps riders stay balanced through technical sections. Assist Carry Over keeps you moving forward with a short boost after you stop pedaling.

For elite riders, these moments can be decisive. For everyday riders, they can make difficult terrain feel smoother, more manageable, and more controlled.

The duration can be customized to match terrain, riding style, or race demands.

The Complete EP810 Ecosystem

The EP810 Series is built as a complete system, with each component designed to work together.

At the center is the DU-EP810 drive unit, supported by a new generation of displays, switches, batteries, drivetrain components, chargers, and system accessories.
