STI Shifters (SHIMANO Total Integration)

SHIMANO Di2 STI levers integrate shifting and braking into one seamless control system. With electronic shift buttons and hydraulic braking in a single unit, riders can shift gears, operate lights, or control cycling computers without ever taking their hands off the bars.

Rear Derailleur

The SHMANO Di2 rear derailleur is the command center, managing shifts and connecting with the entire system. It also houses the system’s main junction and integrated battery (on GRX RD-RX827). A built-in function button communicates battery life, shift modes, and connects to the E-TUBE PROJECT app.

Front Derailleur

Essential for 2x setups, the front derailleur enables wide gear ranges and smaller shift steps. It connects directly to the battery and delivers smooth, reliable chain movement up front.

SHIMANO Di2 Battery

The BT-DN300 internal lithium-ion battery used in 2x setups powers front and rear derailleurs and lasts approximately 1,000 km per charge and has a lifespan of approximately 300 full charge cycles. That’s more than 11 years of weekly use. For 1x systems using a new wireless Di2 rear derailleur, the battery is housed inside the rear derailleur and can be removed to charge. It also lasts approximately 1,000 km per charge.

1x vs 2x: Choosing the Right Di2 Setup for Gravel

2x12-Speed Di2 for Road and Gravel

This setup offers a partially wireless shifting system with wired derailleurs and a wireless connection to STI levers. Available in DURA-ACE, ULTEGRA, SHIMANO 105, and GRX models.

New 1x12-Speed Di2 for Gravel

SHIMANO’s new GRX’s 1x12-speed Di2 system is our first fully wireless drivetrain for drop-bar bikes. The RD-RX827 rear derailleur features a removable battery and is compatible with all 12-speed Di2 levers. That means you can pair DURA-ACE, ULTEGRA, SHIMANO 105, or GRX 12-speed wireless levers with the 1x12-speed GRX rear derailleur.

  • Battery Check (Single Press):
    • Solid Green = 51–100%
    • Flashing Green = 26–50%
    • Solid Red = 1–25%
  • Bluetooth Pairing (Press & Hold 0.5–2 sec):
    Enters wireless connection mode to sync components with the app.

 

  • Adjustment Mode (Hold 2–5 sec):
    Activates fine-tuning for derailleur indexing without limit screws.

 

  • Shift Mode Selection (Double Tap):
    • Solid Blue: Manual
    • Flashing Blue x2: Semi-Synchro
    • Flashing Blue x3: Full Synchro

You can even assign a shift hood button to replicate this function so you never need to take your hands off the bars.

Keep It Fresh: Updating SHIMANO Di2 Firmware

Firmware updates improve performance and extend battery life. These updates also often solve common issues with shifting or connectivity.
