  • Learn everything you need to know about the ultra-precise, wireless shifting capabilities of the XTR M9200 Di2, designed for seamless gear changes and enhanced durability.
  • Understand how the robust construction of the XTR rear derailleur, with automatic impact recovery, ensures reliability even on the toughest trails.
  • Find out about the powerful, customizable XTR braking systems that provide predictable, fade-free performance for various riding styles.

Mountain biking is about living in the moment. It’s about diving through perfectly sculpted ribbons of singletrack or picking invisible lines down rock slabs. It’s about making it through tricky rock gardens or climbing unimaginably steep slopes to reach the next ripping descent. Mountain biking is about trusting yourself, and your equipment, to explore the limits of what’s possible.

That same drive for exploration inspired SHIMANO engineers to create the ultimate mountain bike groupset, delivering ultra-precise and lightning-quick shifting, unmatched durability and robustness, comfortable and intuitive ergonomics, and predictable and powerful braking control. All those things—plus extensive freedom of choice and customization—are exactly what you get with SHIMANO’s new XTR M9200 Di2 groupset.

Building on our longstanding legacy of transformative innovation and industry-leading engineering, this fully wireless system is ready to meet the extreme demands of real-world racing—and be your ideal partner for those “best days” on the bike.

The foundation of new XTR is a fully redesigned MTB Di2 system that delivers blazingly fast and precise wireless shifting and is purpose-built to withstand damaging rock strikes. This robustness is thanks primarily to the new XTR M9250 rear derailleur, which features a unique low-profile design that helps avoid blunt force impacts. When the inevitable mishap does happen, the rear derailleur’s wedge shape design and slick outer coating let it glance off trail obstacles more easily, preventing catastrophic damage.

XTR Rear Derailleur: Automatic Impact Recovery and Durability

The new XTR derailleur also comes equipped with SHIMANO’s cutting-edge automatic impact recovery function that allows it to smoothly pivot away from trail obstacles to lessen the force from impact and then quickly return to its original position once past the impediment. It's almost like having a second set of eyes watching for trail hazards, then reacting in real-time so there's no interruption to your ride or race.

Derailleur durability is further enhanced by the component’s wide link structure, tough carbon skid-plate, and solid pulley design that together make it bomb-proof. It’s your new mountain biking security blanket, allowing you to stay totally focused on the trail ahead.

This industry-leading durability is combined with SHIMANO’s new chain stabilizing technology, where a dual spring design creates higher chain tension for better chain wrap and retention—and reduced chance of skipping or dropping your chain. Powering all this advanced technology is a long-lasting rechargeable battery that’s tucked safely inside the rear derailleur body, completely sealed off and secured so you can confidently tackle rough and rowdy terrain.

The new XTR Di2 system features two wireless rear derailleur options, a traditional long cage for use with the 10-51T cassette and a mid-cage model with a 9-45T cassette that offers increased ground clearance without gearing range loss. In either case, you'll reap the benefits of SHIMANO's blazingly fast and durable 12-speed HYPERGLIDE+ shifting, which is now even faster with SHIMANO’s wireless Di2 protocol.

Two additional derailleur options are available in a wired configuration for e-MTB. The long-cage RD-M9260-12 is compatible with 12-speed HYPERGLIDE+ drivetrains while the RD-M9260-11L is designed for use with SHIMANO’s high-durability 11-speed LINKGLIDE drivetrains. Both options feature a constant power supply from the bike’s existing e-bike battery while providing the same robust and reliable construction as XTR wireless derailleurs. Using the RD-M9260, riders can utilize SHIMANO’s FREE SHIFT technology to seamlessly shift as you coast, and AUTO SHIFT for smooth, automatic gear changes while pedaling.

Improved XTR Crankset for Robustness and Reliability

We’ve also made improvements to the XTR crankset, which is now stronger and more reliable with its HOLLOWTECH II construction that enhances durability. These new cranks come in two ride-specific constructions: FC-M9200 delivers maximum weight savings that’s optimal for cross-country races or rides, while FC-M9220 is ideal for the enduro racing world and features a category-specific, stronger spindle that ensures efficient power transfer while also providing enhanced strength, durability, and rigidity. Whichever you choose, you’ll get to pick from multiple crank arm length options, including 160, 165, 170, and 175 mm for the enduro model, and 165, 170, and 175 mm for the XC option. Each crank can be paired with your choice of chainring with options ranging from 28T to 38T.

Customizable Shifter for Personalized Control

This wide-ranging freedom of choice extends to SHIMANO’s new Di2 shift switch, which delivers precise wireless shifting and features multi-axis four-way adjustability for the ultimate in personalized customization. No matter your ideal setup, you'll be in total control never needing to adjust your grip when shifting, a feature SHIMANO honed over several generations of mechanical shifting development.

The new Di2 shifter’s shift paddles feature a comfortable and tactile feel, and their functions can be customized for any riding preference using the E-TUBE app. Options include hold-down multi-shift, click-through double shift, and mechanically locked-out single shift. There’s even a programmable third button that can be used to scroll through screens on a connected GPS device or to perform rear derailleur adjustments while riding.

Powerful and Predictable Braking Systems

Rider focus and control are further enhanced thanks to SHIMANO's newly updated brake systems, which deliver our most powerful and predictable braking performance yet. The new range of XTR brakes includes three unique setups: one prioritizing lightweight construction for XC racing and riding, a second that features boosted power delivery for more control during aggressive descents, and a third that combines key features from both setups to deliver the optimal balance of weight savings, modulation, power, and control.

No matter which you choose, you’ll benefit from SHIMANO’s new brake lever design where the pivot point is moved closer to the bar, allowing the lever’s arc of motion to better match the natural movement of your fingers when pulling the brakes. The lever shape of the BL-M9220 also employs an upswept path that meets your finger at its natural angle, encouraging an aggressive riding position and balanced weight distribution for improved comfort and control when it matters most.

Perhaps most importantly, though, the new XTR brakes deliver predictable fade-free performance even on long and demanding descents. This is due to new seals and the use of a reformulated low-viscosity mineral oil that together ensures smooth modulation and consistent power delivery at any temperature. Now, you can drop into any descent, confident that you'll be in total control from top to bottom.

The new brakes also utilize our revised anti-rattle ICE TECHNOLOGIES pads that help reduce pad/rotor temperatures and deliver a tighter fit in the caliper that keeps the backing plate from contacting the retaining pin.

Lightweight and Durable Carbon Wheels

Rounding out the new XTR M9200 lineup are SHIMANO’s impressively lightweight and durable carbon mountain bike wheels, which come in an ultra-lightweight XC option and a more durable enduro-oriented model. Both new XTR wheelsets feature an updated cartridge bearing hub design for easy service and deliver speedy, drag-free engagement, assuring that every ounce of your pedaling power is transformed into rapid propulsion down the trail.
